“MODEL LATINA” PREMIERES ON AUGUST 2 2009 AT 10 P.M. ET

Contestants face their very first challenge:

A photo shoot test where they must embody the sophisticated and sexy Nicolita character.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

LOS ANGELES – July 31, 2009 – California native and Nicolita designer Nicole Di Rocco will make her television debut as a guest judge for the premiere of Model Latina: Miami on Sunday, Aug. 4 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on Si TV, America’s leading cable network for Latinos by Latinos.  Model Latina: Miami is a one-hour weekly series featuring 12 beautiful, diverse Latinas who take over a Miami mansion and compete for a modeling contract, $10,000, and star status as the next Model Latina.

In the premiere episode of Model Latina: Miami, this year’s contestants were tested on their ability to get the best Nicolita bikini shot and were also judged on their ability to embody the Nicolita character.

“Nicolita is the romantic in all of us,” said Di Rocco. “She is sexy yet sophisticated, and fun, flirty and classy. I’m looking for the woman who can capture her essence.”

Di Rocco continued: “It’s an honor to showcase Nicolita swimwear on Model Latina: Miami. I created an exclusive line for women who inspire me – curvaceous Latinas – and for this photo shoot. The bikinis all feature Nicolita’s signature no-pinch fit and heart-shaped backside – it’s perfect for the Latina figure!”

Nicolita’s bikini, especially designed for Model Latina: Miami, will be manufactured and sold on MyNicolita.com for a limited time, beginning in September.

“It was a great experience to be able to work with SiTV on the Model Latina: Miami show,” Di Rocco noted. “The synergy between our companies was awesome because they are both motivated by our Latin cultures. It was a great complement for both the brands to work together.”

TWENTY-SOMETHING CUBAN AMERICAN FASHION DESIGNER MAKES HER OWN DREAMS COME TRUE
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Orange County – January 12, 2004-“The dream of finding a great job immediately following college just isn’t as easy as it used to be,” says Nicole Sainz, a twenty-three year old Cuban American Fashion Designer. “I have the ability to control my own destiny and I am making my dreams come true with the creation of my own handbag and bikini company, NICOLITA.”
As an undergraduate student in the Entrepreneur Program at the University of Southern California’s Marshall School of Business, Nicole Sainz began selling handbags to her sorority sisters, friends and family. She never imagined she would be her own boss just a few years later.

“The reality that I had a company did not set in until I was knee-deep in orders and my inventory was taking over my dorm room,” says Sainz. “I began selling NICOLITA handbags in December 2001 for fun, but I figured once the holidays were over, sales would stop.”
But this was not the case for the young fashionista. A year later and with a bachelor’s degree in hand, orders for her stylish and vibrant handbags kept pouring in. “I never thought starting my own company would begin like this,” says Sainz.

After learning she could receive wholesale discounts with a reseller’s number and a business license, Sainz spent a full day filling out the appropriate paperwork. Twenty dollars later, she had her DBA, tax number and reseller’s permit. In March 2002, NICOLITA became an official apparel and fashion accessories company.

This is definitely a long way for a young woman who just recently started calling herself a fashion designer and says, “I taught myself how to sew.” Originally, Sainz began creating handbags and bikinis for herself. “I wanted to look and feel sexy,” says Sainz. “And I was getting bored with the same styles, so I decided to make my own. I believe feeling “sexy” and “caliente” is what is appealing about NICOLITA and I think that is what women in my age group want.”

Sainz chose the fashion industry because it is creative and fun, as well as one of the few industries that directly affects everyone. “If it is cute and has style, it will sell!” she says.

When asked how she was able to start her own small business, Sainz said she had less than one hundred dollars to purchase two yards each of 10 different fabrics to sew a couple of example handbags. She used her sorority house as her first venue to sell her new product. In one lunch period, she grossed more than $1000 in custom orders. It was with this first sale that she was able to reinvest her profits. In addition, she took a risk and obtained a few credit cards to assist her in the start-up of NICOLITA.

Sainz says she has always had an entrepreneur mindset, as she tends to look at the world from a financial standpoint. “I have worked for and did a number of internships while in college, but I was never really happy,” she says. “I began to understand little by little about the vicious cycle of working for someone else. My real life experience allowed me to change my survival technique.”

And this survival technique includes living back at home with her parents to save and invest in herself and in NICOLITA. Her advice to aspiring entrepreneurs is “GO FOR IT!” Sainz says you must be willing to risk and accept financial assistance from an outside source, as well as write and research a feasibility paper on your company. “If you truly believe in your product or service, it will only be a matter of time before you meet the right person/company who will help your business achieve that next level,” says Sainz.

And what is the next level for NICOLITA? Sainz says to “grow the company to be a giant player in the bikini and handbag industry and receive recognition as a high quality, fashionable product.”

NICOLITA bikinis and accessories are produced and distributed by Cuban American designer Nicole Sainz. NICOLITA is headquartered in Santa Ana, California.
